Srinagar, December 28 (KNO) : The report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama before the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has revealed that a youth Fayaz Ahmed Wani of Chew Kalan, Pulwama was killed after government forces fired in self defence on September 3, 2018. According to a statement issued to KNO, the official reply comes in response to the petition filed by chairman international forum for Justice and Human Rights Muhammad Ahsan Untoo under case number SHRC/290/Pul/2018 dated September 4. The reply submitted by the D.C. and SSP Pulwama states that on September 3, forces launched a CASO in village Gusoo, Chew Kalan after reliable inputs about the presence of militants. "Forces fired tear gas shells and a few shots in the air in self defence. Fayaz Ahmed Wani had taken his cow to a nearby field for grazing and a stray bullet hit him after which he was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar where doctors declared him brought dead," the reply reads. It stated that the deceased was a layman not involved with any political non political organisation. The report further states that the RS 1 lakh has been sanctioned as the ex-gratia for the next of kin of deceased. The petitioner while mocking at the official claims stated that Kashmir seems to be the only place in the world where bullets fired in self defence that too in air results in the killing of innocent people. “I urge the commission to hold a high level probe in the incident and to identify the forces personnel for killing an innocent,” he said.(KNO)
